Our angle.

Jack is a former teacher hacker. In her classroom, there was a system for everything. Why? So her students could operate more independently and confidently. After spending years inefficiently hacking current learning management platforms, she realized that the "submit and grade" system wasn't designed to support student learning at all. Nightly email trails grew between her and her students all because students struggled with independent task initiation, organization, and planning. Jack believes in finding ways to support learning as a process, not just a final product.

Students are social, curious, highly motivated, and self-directed creatures. Jack believes that students should develop the skills to direct their own learning. Setting up the right learning environment and processes for our students plays a huge role in how our students learn. All of Spinndle’s resources are geared toward building a safe sandbox for learning. A place to bounce ideas off of colleagues, network, and share strategies every step of the way. A place to try, iterate, test, and try again.

Executive functioning skills have been identified as essential "for school achievement” and “for the preparation and adaptability of our future workforce.” Children aren't born with these foundational skills. They are born with the potential to develop them.

A metacognitive approach to managing student work helps equip young students with the necessary executive functioning skills to learn how to learn.
